Made popular by Michael Jordan during his time at the University of North Carolina, the Converse Fastbreak broke ground with its 1983 introduction, when it brought in a new sense of performance silhouettes. The Fastbreak was designed to be a lightweight and breathable sneaker featuring a foam-backed nylon and leather upper to shed unnecessary weight.

Reintroducing the classic basketball sneaker in 2017, Converse’s new Fastbreak shoe is a leather take on the classic style that has the same aesthetic paneling and iconic appearance. Staying true to its comfortable roots, the new version of the shoe features a shock absorbent sole with flexibility and a pivot point that makes this version of the shoe the ideal sneaker for everyday wear. From a legendary court legacy to a street-level lifestyle, that authenticity is retained in a leather reinterpretation of a shoe that helped make history.

Worn by Michael Jordan during his college years, the silhouette at the time was the go-to shoe for all basketball players in the U.S. The shoe was later discontinued by the American footwear brand, but Converse decided this year to bring back the classic shoe, thanks to the popularity of the current vintage trend.

The Converse Fastbreak collection is available in Casino Red, Candy Grape and Green and launches in select Footlocker stores, Footlocker.com, Converse Stores and Converse.com on Thurs., June 29 for a suggested price of $85.
