Just Charlie from Wolfe Video on Vimeo.

Directed by: Rebekah Fortune

Writer: Peter Machen
Starring: Harry Gilby, Scot Williams, Patricia Potter, Karen Bryson, Ewan Mitchell, Joshua Pascoe
Distributed by: Wolfe

JUST CHARLIE traces with nuance and sensitivity one young person’s struggle with gender identity through the lens of a gritty, sports loving blue-collar community and a tough family struggling to accept it.

Set in Tamworth, a gritty, small working class Midland town in the UK, teenage soccer star Charlie and his family see soccer as a way out of a dead end factory life for him. But Charlie is struggling with gender dysphoria, and is torn between his father’s expectations and shedding his male identity. With dramatic yet surprising results for himself, his family, and his community, Charlie begins a gender transition while continuing to pursue the dream of becoming a soccer star.

JUST CHARLIE is the feature film directorial debut of theatre & TV actress / director Rebekah Fortune. Inspired by emotional real life accounts from transgender communities, Fortune was inspired by these resonant stories to create a poignant account of one young teen’s identity transition in a small, gritty British town.

Said Fortune, “Just Charlie is a film about chasing your dreams, and accepting those who are different because – sometimes – the rules on how to love, what you can do, and who you should be, are meant to be broken. This is a story about identity, who we think we are and who we really are. About being true to ones self in the face of terrible adversity.”

Featuring a breakout lead performance from theatre / TV actor Harry Gilby (star of the play version of The Full Monty). This film marks his cinema debut, and he was nominated for Most Promising Newcomer at the British Film Awards.

Dive into the mysterious world of MUTE – starring Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux.

Berlin, the future, but close enough to feel familiar: In this loud, often brutal city, Leo (Alexander Skarsgård) – unable to speak from a childhood accident – searches for his missing girlfriend, the love of his life, his salvation, through dark streets, frenzied plazas, and the full spectrum of the cities shadow-dwellers. As he seeks answers, Leo finds himself mixed up with Cactus Bill (Paul Rudd) and Duck (Justin Theroux), a pair of irreverent US army surgeons on a mission all their own. This soulful sci-fi journey from filmmaker Duncan Jones (

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx Celebrate Together in Rare Appearance

IMG_20180128_143704_740

#JamieFoxx and #KatieHolmes have kept their rumored relationship on the down low for years, but they looked every bit the happy couple at #CliveDavis‘ annual Pre-Grammy Awards Gala.

The 39-year-old actress arrived ahead of Foxx to Saturday night’s bash, sponsored by Absolut Vodka, socializing with the star-studded crowd in a red gown and with her cropped hair tucked behind one ear.

Though Foxx and Holmes sat at the same table, it appeared the actress tried to avoid drawing attention to herself  by leaving the room and moving to a different seat just moments before Davis announced the singer’s presence.

However, Davis called out the move, saying, “This lady left the room right when I was going to introduce her, she was sitting at that table right with Jamie Foxx and everyone else.”

Davis added, “If you’re going to sit together what better night than tonight?”

A camera showed Foxx, 50, cracking up while Holmes appeared somewhat chagrined to have the spotlight on her.

The duo found themselves at the same table again, where they were photographed looking happy together. When Logic performed, they stood up and danced along with others.

JAY-Z Reveals Why He Ended His Six-Year Grammys Boycott

IMG_20180128_133441_269

“I’m gonna say a lot of things tonight, but it’s all coming from a place of honesty,” the 48-year-old rapper — who’s nominated for eight Grammysthis year — said at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala at the Sheraton Time Square on Saturday while accepting the 2018 Salute to Industry Icons Award.

“My introduction to the Grammys were, aside from seeing them on TV and seeing Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder and all those guys inspiring [me] to do what they did, was 1998,” he continued at the Absolut Vodka-sponsored event, which the 4:44 rapper attended with his wife.
“I had an album called Vol. II. You like that album? And I was nominated for some awards,” he said, adding that “There was another guy. His name was DMX, and he had released two albums the same year, they did like 900,000…The same year, he had released two albums, and he wasn’t nominated for any Grammys.”
“I actually boycotted the Grammys that year,” JAY-Z continued, adding that he didn’t come back until 2004, “when a beautiful young lady, whom I love dearly, had a solo album, and it was the breakout — she was nominated.”
Continued the rapper, “My first time coming back, six years later, [was] for the Crazy in Love album with the beautiful Miss Beyoncé.”
JAY-Z added that part of the reason why he decided to end his boycott of the awards ceremony was because “I realized, man, all this is super subjective, and everyone’s doing their best, and the Academy—they’re human, like we are, and they’re voting on things that they like; it’s subjective. And we believe in it because we do.”
“We can pretend that we don’t care, but we really care—we care because we see the most incredible stand on those stage, and we aspire to be that. So I realized: I had to be there. That is the idea, for us to all get involved and to push this thing further,” he added.
“No matter what happens at the Grammys, it’s going to be what it is: Bob Marley‘s gonna be Bob Marley whether he’s nominated for a Grammy or not. Tupac is gonna be Tupac. Biggieis gonna be Biggie. That’s true. But in this industry, we have to… the things that we hold and we love and we treasure, that we respect, we have to get involved.

Aspiring New York City Model Found Dead In Jamaica With Slashed Throat

Desiree Gibbon was in Jamaica looking for work before she was found dead with a slashed throat the weekend after Thanksgiving, according to the New York Daily News.

On Nov. 26, residents found her beaten-bloodied body just four miles from Montego Bay. Authorities made their rounds at nearby hotels to identify her body, with one establishment being the inn owned by her grandmother.

The 26 year old was staying at her family’s guesthouse while looking for temporary bartending work to save money for film school in Europe. Her boyfriend, Phil Rodriguez, previously told the Daily News that she complained about having problems with some new friends she met during her trip.

“Some friends were responsible, law-abiding citizens with jobs, but she also made friends with what she called ‘poor girls’ from the other side of town,” Rodriguez said. “I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she made what she thought was friends, but they were actually plotting against her.”

Gibbon’s mother, Andrea Cali-Gibbon, also believes her daughter was harmed by someone she trusted. “She didn’t venture out on her own,” Cali-Gibbon said. “It was somebody she trusted.”

Adding, “She was a tough cookie. I know she fought until she drew her last breath. I know she did. And I’m certain that her last thought was, ‘Will my mom be OK if I don’t make it?’”

Gibbon was supposed to fly back that following Thursday, after scouting potential musicians for a friend’s record label.

The ambitious young woman’s father, who is Jamaican, was at a loss for words. “It’s a terrible feeling,” Gairy Gibbon said. “No words to describe it. I can’t describe how I feel right now, standing here.”

Her death is currently under investigation.

Jay-Z explains why he and Beyonce didn’t divorce: ‘Most people walk away’

Jay-Z is continuing his public admission of guilt in a wide-ranging interview with the New York Times.

Along with talking about his latest album, 4:44, which detailed his infidelity and reconciliation with his wife of nine years, Beyonce, Jay-Z explained why the two decided to stay together after multiple incidents of infidelity on his part.

“You know, most people walk away, and the divorce rate is like 50 percent or something ’cause most people can’t see themselves,” he said. “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.”

The two wed in secret on April 4, 2008, in front of friends and family.

Jay-Z, 47, also said he wasn’t surprised by his wife’s album, “Lemonade,” which spoke about a woman discovering her beloved is cheating on her, among other themes such as race, daughter-father relationships and, of course, women’s empowerment.

“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” he said. “Lemonade” was released first because it was closer to completion and he said it felt like “she should go first and share her truth.”

“The music she was making at that time was further along,” he continued. “So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on. Um, we still have a lot of that music. And this is what it became.”

“There was never a point where it was like, ‘I’m making this album.’ I was right there the entire time,” he said. “[We were] … both very, very uncomfortable, but […] the best place in the, you know, hurricane is like in the middle of it.”

“We were sitting in the eye of that hurricane,” Jay-Z added. “Uh, maybe not use hurricane because so many people are being affected right now. But the best place is right in the middle of the pain. And that’s where we were sitting. And it was uncomfortable. And we had a lot of conversations.”

Jay-Z, who has two young daughters and a son with Beyonce, 36, said he was “proud” of the “Lemonade” album, released in April 2016 to much fanfare.

“And, you know, at the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another’s craft,” he added. “I think she’s amazing.”

Cumulus Media, which owns 7 FM and 4 AM radio stations in central Pennsylvania, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The Atlanta-based company said Wednesday in a news release that it entered into a Restructuring Support Agreement with some of its secured lenders to reduce the Company’s debt by more than $1 billion.
