The New Orleans-bred rapper Juvenile has been jailed after a judge found he owes $150,000 in child support payments.

Following a performance Friday, Teruis Gray, 42, who performs under the name Juvenile, was booked into New Orleans’ jail in the early-morning hours Saturday on orders of Civil Court Judge Nakisha Ervin-Knott.

Ervin-Knott ruled in May that Gray must spend either 30 days in jail or pay his child support debt to Dionne Williams, who has a son with the rapper.

Court records say the amount Gray was jailed over is tied to 2012 and 2013 rulings that determined he was about $170,000 behind in his payments to Williams as of that time. He then paid $20,000 of that amount to her in April, court records said.

Williams accuses Gray in court records of failing to pay more than $71,000 in child support payments between 2013 and last month.

#JayZ Announces New Album 4:44

The follow-up to 2013’s Magna Carta Holy Grail is out later this month
….
Jay Z has announced his next studio album, 4:44. The rapper shared a snippet of new track “Adnis” earlier tonight in a new trailer for the mysterious film of the same name, 4:44, which stars Mahershala Ali and Danny Glover. The album—and film—are both out June 30. It’s currently not fully clear if 4:44 will be a visual album, or if the film is a companion piece. Pitchfork has reached out to Tidal representatives for more information. The album will be a Tidal exclusive, and also available to Sprint customers.

Hov has stayed busy since releasing his last album. He launched a venture capital fund to invest in start-ups, produced films and documentary series on Trayvon Martin, Richard Pryor, Kalief Browder, and the early Roc-A-Fella days, and sold 33% of Tidal.
Last year, Jay released a song called “spiritual” in response to police brutality. He’s appeared on several tracks in recent months, including Frank Ocean’s “Biking” with Tyler, the Creator, DJ Khaled’s “Shining” with Beyoncé and “I Got the Keys” with Future, Pusha T’s “Drug Dealers Anonymous,” and on the remix of Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s “All the Way Up,” among others.

Celebrate Juneteenth

Happy #Juneteenth 🙌

© JUNETEENTH.com
Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.  Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation – which had become official January 1, 1863. The Emancipation Proclamation had little impact on the Texans due to the minimal number of Union troops to enforce the new Executive Order. However, with the surrender of General Lee in April of 1865, and the arrival of General Granger’s regiment, the forces were finally strong enough to influence and overcome the resistance.

Juneteenth In Modern Times

Today, Juneteenth is enjoying a phenomenal growth rate within communities and organizations throughout the country. Institutions such as the Smithsonian, the Henry Ford Museum and others have begun sponsoring Juneteenth-centered activities. In recent years, a number of local and national Juneteenth organizations have arisen to take their place along side older organizations – all with the mission to promote and cultivate knowledge and appreciation of African American history and culture.

Juneteenth today, celebrates African American freedom and achievement, while encouragingcontinuous self-development and respect for all cultures. As it takes on a more national, symbolic and even global perspective, the events of 1865 in Texas are not forgotten, for all of the roots tie back to this fertile soil from which a national day of pride is growing.

The future of Juneteenth looks bright as the number of cities and states creating Juneteenth committees continues to increase. Respect and appreciation for all of our differences grow out of exposure and working together. Getting involved and supporting Juneteenth celebrations creates new bonds of friendship and understanding among us. This indeed, brightens our future – and that is the Spirit of Juneteenth.

The Beautiful actress, Tika Sumpter Reveals Her Child’s Father In Heartfelt Instagram Post.
The star, who has been notoriously private about his identity, finally let the world know about her love.
After a year of being coy, Tika Sumpter shared a Father’s Day photo of daughter Ella-Loren and Nick James, the actor who’s the father of her bundle of joy.

And it’s safe to say the two make a beautiful pair.

In January, Sumpter revealed on The Real that she was engaged to James, who popped the question on Christmas— but never said his name. “I didn’t want to hear, ‘Who’s the dad?’” Sumpter said about remaining private about his identity. “Social media can be harsh, and I’m a mama bear, protective of my family. So that’s why I waited to tell people, including some of my friends.” Sumpter and James met on the set of Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots series. No word on when the wedding will happen, but we can’t wait for the fab photos.

As the reports are beginning to vilify this woman, let’s state facts. She is a mother of 3 (one child has special needs) who realized that her apartment had been robbed. As any mother would do to protect her children, she armed herself with a knife. The police that she called, shot her in front of her children stating that that she was a threat with a knife. What happened to all of that training? There has to be more put into place to protect normal citizens and for the police officers to remember their training. She did not deserve to die. #CharleenaLyles #BlackLivesMatter
