Cardi B drops new single ‘Be Careful’

cardi-b-be-careful

You’ve been warned. Following “Bodak Yellow” and “Bartier Cardi,” Cardi B is putting her man on blast with her third single “Be Careful,” which seems to be inspired by her real life romance with Offset.

The Bronx rapper, who is rumored to be pregnant with fiancé Offset’s child, calls out her man over his infidelity. “I wanna get married, like the Curries, Steph and Ayesha shit,” she raps. “But we more like Belly, Tommy and Keisha shit / Gave you TLC, you wanna creep and shit / Poured out my whole heart to a piece of shit.”

Over the Vinylz, Boi-1da, and Frank Dukes production, she warns him not to mess with her heart. “It’s not a threat, it’s a warning / Be careful with me,” she raps, while borrowing lyrics from Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor.”

Cardi’s highly-anticipated debut album Invasion of Privacy arrives April 6. The following day, she will perform on “SNL” and Coachella later in the month.

It’s Time To Talk About Justin Timberlake, Mediocrity And Disrespect

Pepsi Super Bowl LII Halftime Show

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – FEBRUARY 04: Recording artist Justin Timberlake performs onstage during the Pepsi Super Bowl LII Halftime Show at U.S. Bank Stadium on February 4, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Getty Images)

Feb, 05, 2018

Justin Timberlake is a self-important jackass with a high reserve of self-importance.

An egotistical pop star is not a foreign concept. However, there’s always been something impressively annoying about the manner in which Timberlake has managed to consistently disrespect artists far more influential and inventive than he. Yes, he has two good albums under his belt, and sure, once upon a time, he seemed like he would be a leader in that pop-soul hybrid he ever so shrewdly capitalized off of in the early aughts, but those days are long gone. It’s most evident in his underwhelming release, Man of the Woods, and most assuredly, his blasé Super Bowl LII Halftime Show.

Mere weeks ago, in an interview with Beats 1, Timberlake was asked about the prospects of him doing a Las Vegas residency. In response, he told anchor Zane Lowe: “I wouldn’t rule it out; if it was something that was different.” After that remark, he laughed and quipped, “It feels like you’re planning your retirement, you know?” Timberlake claimed the thought of a Vegas residency “scared him.” Many rightly took that as shade towards his ex-girlfriend — the legendary Ms. Britney Spears, whom he’s long mocked throughout his solo career — as well as performers now there, including Jennifer Lopez, Shania Twain and Lady Gaga, who recently signed on to perform in the market.

Timberlake is seemingly scared because in his mind, to do a Vegas residency is to admit that one is a “legacy act” i.e. an act whose best days are behind him. Well, Spears already reinvented Vegas as a venue that could welcome younger audiences without necessarily acknowledging that it’s only downhill from there. Moreover, even if one were to buy into Timberlake’s rationale, his new album all but confirms his best days are behind him.

Meanwhile, regardless of what you have to say about her, Spears’ Vegas show offers far more theatrics, spectacle, and overall effort than Timberlake’s show at the Super Bowl. The same goes for Lady Gaga’s far more entertaining Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2017. And then there is Jennifer Lopez, who should have been this year’s performer, who is out here dancing harder and singing with more effort than Timberlake — and she is 48 to his 37.

None of these women would get away with the half-assed efforts Timberlake displayed on Sunday night, so it takes a lot of nerve for Timberlake to take swipes at them weeks before he decided to once again skate by offering the bare minimum of his talents. There have been reports of technical issues, but that sounds like another excuse for a man who has long given too many. In fact, nerve was the only thing he offered last night. In the same interview with Lowe, while Timberlake claimed to have “made peace” with Janet Jackson (which many of us rightly doubt), in recalling his conversation with her about the Super Bowl 2004 Halftime Show controversy, he said,  “To be honest, it wasn’t too much of a conversation. It’s just one of those things where you go, like, ‘Yeah, what do you want me to say? We’re not going to do that again!’”

//players.brightcove.net/716147494/default_default/index.html?videoId=4856451087001

Yet, he had the gall to perform the very tune that led to the scrutiny of Jackson’s career under the duress from invented controversy, sexism and racism. As he danced to and barely sang along with “Rock Your Body,” he smiled directly into the camera. Some called this a “homage” to Janet, but I suggest anyone who believes this pour bleach on their keyboards and start over. After that song, he performed, “Señorita,” aka a song clearly intended for Michael Jackson. That is no tribute, but once again gauging the eyes of those he’s stepped over in pursuit of solo stardom.

As for the aforementioned two good albums Timberlake can lay claim to, the former is largely influenced by the King of Pop while the other owes much of itself to Prince’s genius. That Prince hologram did not appear as advertised, but we did see the image of the iconic artist projected onto a large screen. In that moment, we heard vocals from “I Would Die 4 U” blended into Timberlake’s on “Until The End of Time.” It wasn’t so much a duet as it was a reminder that for all the solo time Timberlake clearly sought (he featured no guests), he either blended in with his dancers in those tacky clothes that recalled a painting from Bob Ross, or he was overshadowed by much more towering presences. That, too, took a lot of nerve given Timberlake mocked Prince’s height once at the Golden Globes and dissed him on Timbaland’s “Give It To Me.”

Unfortunately, attitude doesn’t mean much if you don’t accomplish a damn thing doing your duty. If Timberlake would have delivered something momentous, I would have no problem giving him his due. But that was not the case on Sunday.

If you found yourself impressed by Timberlake’s show, good for you. However, I live in a world in which the two greatest living entertainers, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, have not only delivered far more impressive efforts when bestowed the honor of performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but have always behaved with the sort of graciousness and tact Timberlake after all this time, continues to lack.

JAY-Z Reveals Why He Ended His Six-Year Grammys Boycott

IMG_20180128_133441_269

“I’m gonna say a lot of things tonight, but it’s all coming from a place of honesty,” the 48-year-old rapper — who’s nominated for eight Grammysthis year — said at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy Gala at the Sheraton Time Square on Saturday while accepting the 2018 Salute to Industry Icons Award.

“My introduction to the Grammys were, aside from seeing them on TV and seeing Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder and all those guys inspiring [me] to do what they did, was 1998,” he continued at the Absolut Vodka-sponsored event, which the 4:44 rapper attended with his wife.
“I had an album called Vol. II. You like that album? And I was nominated for some awards,” he said, adding that “There was another guy. His name was DMX, and he had released two albums the same year, they did like 900,000…The same year, he had released two albums, and he wasn’t nominated for any Grammys.”
“I actually boycotted the Grammys that year,” JAY-Z continued, adding that he didn’t come back until 2004, “when a beautiful young lady, whom I love dearly, had a solo album, and it was the breakout — she was nominated.”
Continued the rapper, “My first time coming back, six years later, [was] for the Crazy in Love album with the beautiful Miss Beyoncé.”
JAY-Z added that part of the reason why he decided to end his boycott of the awards ceremony was because “I realized, man, all this is super subjective, and everyone’s doing their best, and the Academy—they’re human, like we are, and they’re voting on things that they like; it’s subjective. And we believe in it because we do.”
“We can pretend that we don’t care, but we really care—we care because we see the most incredible stand on those stage, and we aspire to be that. So I realized: I had to be there. That is the idea, for us to all get involved and to push this thing further,” he added.
“No matter what happens at the Grammys, it’s going to be what it is: Bob Marley‘s gonna be Bob Marley whether he’s nominated for a Grammy or not. Tupac is gonna be Tupac. Biggieis gonna be Biggie. That’s true. But in this industry, we have to… the things that we hold and we love and we treasure, that we respect, we have to get involved.

Jay-Z explains why he and Beyonce didn’t divorce: ‘Most people walk away’

Jay-Z is continuing his public admission of guilt in a wide-ranging interview with the New York Times.

Along with talking about his latest album, 4:44, which detailed his infidelity and reconciliation with his wife of nine years, Beyonce, Jay-Z explained why the two decided to stay together after multiple incidents of infidelity on his part.

“You know, most people walk away, and the divorce rate is like 50 percent or something ’cause most people can’t see themselves,” he said. “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.”

The two wed in secret on April 4, 2008, in front of friends and family.

Jay-Z, 47, also said he wasn’t surprised by his wife’s album, “Lemonade,” which spoke about a woman discovering her beloved is cheating on her, among other themes such as race, daughter-father relationships and, of course, women’s empowerment.

In the interview, Jay also confirmed the two have been working on a long-rumored joint album.

“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together,” he said. “Lemonade” was released first because it was closer to completion and he said it felt like “she should go first and share her truth.”

“The music she was making at that time was further along,” he continued. “So her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on. Um, we still have a lot of that music. And this is what it became.”

“There was never a point where it was like, ‘I’m making this album.’ I was right there the entire time,” he said. “[We were] … both very, very uncomfortable, but […] the best place in the, you know, hurricane is like in the middle of it.”

jay-z-beyonce-blue-ivy-gty-ml-171130_4x3_992

“We were sitting in the eye of that hurricane,” Jay-Z added. “Uh, maybe not use hurricane because so many people are being affected right now. But the best place is right in the middle of the pain. And that’s where we were sitting. And it was uncomfortable. And we had a lot of conversations.”

Jay-Z, who has two young daughters and a son with Beyonce, 36, said he was “proud” of the “Lemonade” album, released in April 2016 to much fanfare.

“And, you know, at the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another’s craft,” he added. “I think she’s amazing.”

How did a Canadian Punk band end up on Beyonce’s Lemonade Album?

A Canadian punk band’s music is pressed on Beyonce’s Lemonade vinyl by accident

_97939218_beyonce976

Some Beyonce fans had a (noisy) surprise when they picked up a vinyl copy of her Lemonade album.

The US singer’s music was missing from a small number of copies of the record and had been replaced with a punk band instead.

Five songs from Canadian group Zex had been pressed by mistake on to the first side of a limited edition yellow vinyl.

Fans expecting to hear Hold Up instead got songs by Zex, such as Child Soldier and Let Them In.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BZJR5XtAu93/

A statement from Beyonce’s record label blamed the vinyl problems on “human error” at a pressing plant in Germany.

“Beyonce and ZEX were not aware of or responsible for the mispress,” said Columbia Records.

“Fans who purchased the vinyl will be refunded and given a replacement copy.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.”

In a post on her Instagram account, Zex frontwoman Gretchen Steel said she hoped it wasn’t a misprint and that Beyonce was just a fan of their music.

Beyonce hasn’t commented on the misprint, but Zex posted a video of the vinyl playing their music on Facebook.

“Those of you who got the new Beyonce record Lemonade may be surprised to hear what will be playing on the A-side,” they wrote.

Their fans are desperate to get hold of an incorrect copy, saying they’ll be worth a lot of money in the future.

Zex are a four-piece band who formed in 2013.

Beyonce x Coachella Announces 2018 Festival Dates

beyonce-ivy-park

Beyoncé officially has her first tour dates for 2018 set: Coachella just announced its festival dates for next year. The two-weekend music and arts festival will take place from Friday, April 13, through Sunday, April 15, and Friday April 20 through Sunday, April 22, respectively.

The “Formation” singer was originally a 2017 Coachella headliner, but after announcing that she’s pregnant with twins in February, she had to cancel her appearance (despite delivering a show-stopping performance at the Grammys). To make up for her unexpected cancellation, Beyoncé signed on as a headliner for 2018.

Because of Beyoncé’s move, fans who plan to attend next year’s fest already know one headliner they’ll get to see, which isn’t typically the case with Coachella. Even with lineups being announced long after tickets go on sale, passes sell out at a rapid pace — so with someone like Queen B confirmed for the bill, better act fast if you want to be there.

Advance tickets for Coachella 2018 will be available starting June 2 at 11 a.m. PT.
