Tyler, The Creator Grateful for award but still feels slighted

Tyler, “I don’t like that urban word; it’s just a politically correct way to say the n-word to me. When I hear that, I’m just like why can’t we be in pop?”

Tyler, the Creator may have nabbed his first golden gramophone at the Grammys on Sunday night, but he’s juggling pretty mixed feelings about the achievement. The 28-year-old artist had a momentous night at the award show, winning best rap album for Igor after taking the stage for a captivating, energetic performance, and he used his backstage interview as an opportunity to call out the Recording Academy’s unfair voting process.

“I’m half and half on it,” Tyler said of his initial reaction to scoring his first-ever Grammy. “On one side, I’m very grateful that what I made could be acknowledged in a world like this. But also, it sucks that whenever we — and I mean guys that look like me — do anything that’s genre-bending, they always put it in a rap or urban category.”

As we get closer to warmer weather, these new releases are a starting to turn up a little bit more! I still believe that Nipsey Hussle’s death is the reason why there is no real excitement in music right now. All I can hope for is eventually things will come around for the better…must stay positive even when it seems like the hardest thing to do! Dj Khaled is back with another album filtered with nothing but dope ass features!!! A few exciting ones include Cardi B, Nipsey Hussle, Chris Brown, and Meek Mill to name a few! Tyler, the Creator is back with a groovy album…when I say this man is so creative with a thinking outside of the box mentally it truly shows. One of my fave females is finally out with her own album, Megan Thee Stallion. Her album will definitely have you ready to twerk at any given time AAAHHH. Check out the other dope releases below!

Tyler, The Creator Wants to See More Black Cartoon Characters

Tyler, The Creator just released a new album for fans, but he’s still focusing on his TV career. While attending San Diego Comic Con to promote his upcoming The Jellies! cartoon, the Flower Boy rapper explains why he made the main character, Cornell, black, as he was previously white on the GOLF Media app.

The “Boredom” entertainer believes that there aren’t enough black cartoons on television right now, and explains why he wanted to make sure there was better representation in the cartoon world. He also details why Cornell won’t fit any of the potential stereotypes that have followed black characters in the past.

“Why you make him black?’ Why can’t niggas have anything, man?” Tyler exclaims. “How many fuckin’ black cartoon characters is it on TV right now? Name five. I’ll give you time. It is none
 We don’t got shit
 So I said fuck that, we about to make this nigga black, and he ain’t got no guns, he ain’t shoot no fucking basketball, and he a fucking goober, and we gon’ put him on TV. And he’s the lead character, he ain’t the comic relief, he ain’t the sidekick, he the lead nigga.”

The Jellies! was created by Tyler and Lionel Boyce of Odd Future and is coming soon to Adult Swim. We can also look forward to Tyler starring on his Nuts and Bolts show on Viceland next year.
