Long Live Kobe Bryant

One of the United States greatest basketball players, Kobe Bryant, tragically passed away in a helicopter crash yesterday.

A total of 9 people passed in this terrible accident. I am still in shock about it myself! Kobe is in my age group. I am a mother of 3 children with one on the way, and I can not imagine having to bury my partner and child at the same time.

Sad incidents such as this really makes you analyze your life and the people who are involved in it. I bet Kobe and everyone who was on that helicopter woke up on Sunday only looking to attend a girls basketball game. It makes you realize that when we get up in the morning getting ourselves ready for work or school that we may not make it back home to our loved ones.

I decided that I could’ve spent my time just going in on Kobe and his legend status, but he was not the only one who passed. I feel so much remorse for not only Kobe’s family, but for the other lives who were lost too! I too have dealt with losing very close people in my life some whose death I knew was coming eventually due to long term illnesses, while the others were so unexpected.

During a time where mental health is being stressed, I just hope that everyone takes this time to grieve, and to take into consideration that even though a lot of us have never met Kobe, his daughter, or the other families involved, does not mean it did not touch our hearts or make us hug our own kids real tight. I know for me, I have to give myself atleast 5 years to really grieve. I remember when my god sister passed from complications due to Lupus it took me about that much time just to be able to speak about her without shedding a tear.

Losing a loved one does add a void in your life. I chose to always remember the greatest in a person or to reminisce on the fun times that I will always treasure. Like Kobe, I can remember when he took singer, Brandy Norwood, to prom back in 1996. Or how he was one of the first people to get drafted into the NBA right out of high school like LeBron James. Or the one year the Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers were in the 2001 NBA finals, Kobe found his self going head to head with Allen Iverson, who was also drafted in the NBA the same year as him.

Just so many memories, that I know we all will treasure forever. Always remember that what we all have in common is that everyday is granted to us. Make sure to give people their praises while they are alive, and to cherish this day like it is your last!

THE CONNECTED SERIES SEASON 2 PREMIERE

Hey guys! It’s your girl Mz Slimgoody coming to update ya’ll on an event I got to host back in November!

If you guys remember, last year I interviewed a talented guy by the name of Brandon Bell, who is an actor, rapper, activist, father, and a wonderful husband to one of my high school alumnus. Well…he invited me to not only attend this wonderful event, but to also host the event as well! Needless to say…I was beyond excited to partake in this experience, and network as well!

This super dope event I speak of is The Connected Series Season 2 premiere. I got familiar with the series last year when Bell’s manager requested that I interview him and provided me with a little bit of his resume which had me intrigued and also anxious to meet him. Now fast forward to the premiere itself which was at a local movie theater in Euclid, OH. Yes I can admit that the event started on CPT time LOL but the energy was very welcoming and animated.

The Connected series is a crime drama that Brandon Bell is the main character and the creator of the series too! The crime drama follows him as he navigates his life with all of this crime, suspense, and wavering loyalties going on…I am surprised he was able to make it to season 2 without dying!!

Pleas do not think that I am going to indulge all of the juicy details from the premiere!!! Oh No!! So make sure to check out the series premiere below, and all of the dope actors I got the chance to interview! I also must note that all of the actors and production crew are all from Ohio, talented people, and in December I found out that the series got picked up by a network!! Major congratulations to the cast and crew of The Connected series!!!

Here is the rest of this dope, but informative interview with a special man by the name of Dj Lance, but better known to me as my dad!

In the part 2 of the interview Dj Lance speaks on his downfalls with drug abuse, how he overcame it, and how he enjoys still entertaining people except now it’s entertaining the spirit.

It’s surprising to see how much a person truly loves their craft and found a way to evolve in it while spreading positivity through it! being the oldest child, I can say that I have seen my dad at his greatest as well as his lows. One thing I always keep with me is the fact that as long as I am living, there is always a chance to become a better individual for not just me, but for my family too!

LIL KIM – 9

First off….all hail to the Queen!!! OMG!! I was so pumped when I found out that Kim was coming out with an album, and even more happier to hear that Kim is still good on the lyrics, and has a great ear for productions!! Like you can really bump her album with a good sound system to really vibe too. I definitely love the hidden artist features including Rick Ross, Rich The Kid, OT Genesis, and the City Girls!! This album is definitely something to keep on replay. Love you Kim!!!

WALE – WOW…THAT’S CRAZY

Wale truly put his whole body and soul into this album! From the beginning to the end this album never disappoints. Ya’ll should know that I LOVE Wale!! Wale seems to be one of those people that even after I think I read his first page…I have to keep reading page after page to truly know Wale, which can be a good or bad thing, but when it comes to his music…this theory is definitely a good thing!

GUCCI MANE – WOPTOBER II

The main reason why I am writing about this album is because I do love me some Gucci Mane! I am that down ass chick for those I truly fuck with and Gucci is that man in my head OK!!! Honestly…there was nothing on this album that gave me that old Gucci feeling from back in 2013, but what I do respect is how much he is putting on the new artists. For example, the track “Big Boy Diamonds” that features Kodak Black, seems to be Kodak’s whole track, plus he needs positive press anyways while he is currently serving time in jail. That is those types of examples showing how Gucci Mane gives love back even though he tried to start a whole beef with DJ Envy and Angela Yee from the Breakfast Club smh

KASH DOLL – STACKED

Let’s give a shout out to one of my favorite females coming out of Detroit! We’ve been hearing her name since 2012 or 2013, and now it’s 2019, and Kash Doll has finally dropped her first debut album!!! Her album “Stacked” has dope features including another one of Detroit’s pwn Big Sean, Trey Songz, Summer Walker, and Teyanna Taylor! A very upbeat album that also tells Kash Doll’s story too! In my opinion it’s definitely a must listen, and also placed on Billboards top 100 too!!

It’s Mz Slimgoody back with my reviews on certain albums that were released within the last few weeks. Some projects were very much anticipated while some were mediocre, but still listen worthy for I love plenty more bounce to the ounce!! LMAO *insert my corny ass jokes*

YOUNG M.A. – Herstory In The Making
Mannnnn….how long have we been waiting on Young M.A. to FINALLY drop her project?? One thing I am very proud to say is that this wait is very well worth it! While listening to her album it felt good to hear the different producers she has worked with down to even Zaytoven! A New York flow with a southern producer? HUH?? Sounds crazy right? Guess what? She rode that beat! I love how she allowed us to really get to know her story from rapping about her love life and how certain emotions have affected her creativity at times. This project proved to me that Young M.A. is still here to stay!

DaBaby – Kirk
Who knew while the country was mourning the unexpected death of Nipsey Hussle, DaBaby while still making a name for himself as well as topping the charts, had lost his father on the same day. He mentioned in a recent interview that his father’s death was what inspired him to name his second project after him. Now I will say that after hearing the intro, which is very deep and heart felt, the rest of the album is what you will expect to hear from DaBaby. He has such a flow about himself, and is very good at telling visual stories, but I believe when it comes to production, he stays very safe with sticking to what works for him. DaBaby has a few songs that I love, like the hidden feature with Nicki Minaj that even upped her “A” game!

Kevin Gates – I’m Him
Kevin Gates came thru with a new project since getting out of jail in early 2018. He had a few mixtapes that were released, but I think that now Kevin is in a better place mentally and spiritually. His involvement can be heard on this new album. Kevin is even giving more interviews as of recently promoting this project, and even speaking more in a positive light on his growth and the changes he has endured to put him in the space he is now currently in. Of course Kevin is still gritty, hardcore, and spiritually felt on his album. I had to listen to it a few times prior to speaking on it, but overall it’s worth it.

Nivea – Mirrors
When I seen that singer, Nivea had finally dropped an album I was so excited!! I mean come on…it’s been over 10 plus years since we even had a single! I think the latest music we heard from her was a feature on Lil Wayne’s “Carter V” album. Now we have “Mirrors” and we finally can hear what Nivea has been up to in all these years!! Some of the songs you can tell were made awhile ago while there are some that were made recently. This project sounds like a smorgasbord of music put together to let us know her versatility. On a recent interview she mentioned that she will like to get into song writing again for other artists. I do think that you have to listen to the project more than once to gain a real perspective of it.

Sabrina Claudio – Truth Is
This artist has such a sultry voice that tells sweet stories of love and heart break. I do not know what it is that attracted me to this artist, but I truly vibe to her music. Sabrina’s new project goes right into more stories of a relationships ups and downs with a bluesy feel to it. She has a way of telling a depressing story that makes it sounds so good you forget the heart break in the song! I swear this album is perfect break up music.

Summer Walker – Over It

This is one of my most anticipated albums for this year! I truly love her voice and the stories she tells I can truly relate to! It’s hard for me to describe exactly my thoughts for her album which aren’t bad by any means but if you have been a fan over Summer’s I think you will get what I am saying!! I love beautiful voices over dope ass beats that you can listen to even while chilling with your dude! Her project is definitely a must listen!!

FOOTBALL IS NOT JUST A SPORT IT’S A FAMILY

Have you ever wondered why a woman would want to play in such a rough sport such as football? Or wondered what do these women get out of being part of the Cleveland Fusion?

Look no further!! We got members of the team to express their real thoughts and feelings on how they truly feel about playing for the Cleveland Fusion. According to one of the Fusion’s centers, Sophia Pagan, the reason she plays football is ““Football will introduce you to lifelong bonds. It’s an experience like no other. It’s more than football. It’s family.”

What Sophia said is exactly the feeling we want to spread amongst the team. The feeling as if everyone is a family and is willing to work together as one to accomplish a common goal. Mind you, everyone that comes together to make the teamwork all come from different parts of the globe with the dedication to push women’s football forward!

Roxi Valdina, player #18, stated “I play to be the best version of myself. Mentally, physically and emotionally. Football has all these things at once. And the person I see when I rise to the challenge is someone, I want to be proud of. So, I give my all. For myself and my team.” We all know that playing football is not an easy sport. It can be very stressing physically as well as mentally. When picking the best team, I would suggest going for a team who puts their all into making sure that each member is ready physically and mentally and will teach anything that is needed in all regards to the game prior to getting on to the field.

Per Quarterback Cassie Brown, “I play for the young girls who think they can’t. I play football so I can continue to build the family I have because of the sport. I play football to prove everyone else wrong.” And Running back #27, E. Lewis, also states ““Football has revealed my character as a woman on and off the field. It’s about the TEAM, the COMMITMENT, the JOURNEY. To be better than you were yesterday. Most importantly to conquer the one sport they once thought would remain only for man.”

I do not know how much more motivation you need. These women who all come from all different walks of life, ethnicities, and backgrounds all have one common goal which is to prove that women can be football players too and can still lead their regular lives when the game is done! It’s you that must believe that you can do it too!!!

On August 23, 2019 was one of the best days for new music. The reason why I say that?? OMG!!! It had nothing but great and the most anticipated releases I can say for the year, and as I list them I bet you an 100 that you will think so too! I mean literally from every genre it was nothing but dope ass music released!!!
Let’s start with one of my favorite groups of million men Brockhampton!

BROCKHAMPTON – GINGER

You can not beat a group that’s filled with nothing but guys who literally are dope ass lyricists, and anytime they drop a project it is literally worth the listen. The album “Ginger” may not hold up to their previous project, but I still enjoyed it never the less. I truly love when the production does not overshadow the voices telling a story. As a listener I feel that you can overall get what you expected from this album.

MISSY ELLIOTT – ICONOLOGY

What can I say about Missy “Misdeamenor” Elliott???? OMG…the fact that I am truly a fan and has been one since the 90’s. The fact that I was one of the first people in line at the music store waiting to buy her first solo debut back in the fall of 97…yes…I am completely dating myself but so whaaatt!!! Thaty woman deserves it all! From artist, to songwriter, to producer, to innovator, to just being a dope person overall she is the epitome of what I had aspired to be back as a kid…a song writer/producer. This Ep included only 4 tracks, but to have not heard anything new from Missy in a few years, literally was a breath of fresh air! Trust me when I say that when a person has mastered there craft, regardless of how long it seems that they have been away, when they return, it feels like they never left!

RAPHAEL SAADIQ – JIMMY LEE

One of the original member’s from the group Tony, Toni, Tone also the group Lucy Pearl even was featured on Alicia Keys classic “Diary” the list goes on and on of the classic work Raphael has put in! Just like Missy, this man has many talents too which sustained him for all this time! Mind you his original group came out in 1989!! This new album “Jimmy Lee” tells a story of a man who is going through some ups and downs in his life, but the way Raphael constructed this album you would think that it was just a jazz piece..oh no! It’s a story told from the soul, and I believe that some parts of it is a true recollection of Raphael’s memories of one his older brother who is currently deceased.

RAPSODY – EVE

Can I just put it out there that this is a Grammy winning album already?? I am just saying LOL Rapsody literally made an album with each song titled, and spoken about powerful Black women!! Ladies Stand Up!! I can not stress how much I truly believed that the year of 2019 is for the women, and this album proves all of it! From the surprising features like J. Cole and Queen Latifah to how Rapsody lyrically breaks down her thoughts very meticulously about each individual truly had hit my soul. Do beleive that this album has been played literally too many times in my car so for right now I had to give it a break!! LOL

Even though the season is over we do expect the Cleveland Fusion to come even harder for the 2020 season!! Pompano Runna Interview

On the last episode of Hit or Miss Sundays Ms Cream, Dj Raven, Dayson, and I had the pleasure to have artist, Pompano Runna, as a featured guest on our show! During the interview we listened and voted on three dope tracks that sounded completely different from each other, but allowed us to feel the many depths of Pompano. On the track “Cool Young Nigga” I swear we all voted the track as an “hit” all at the same time. I could imagine deceased rapper, Bankroll Fresh on the track. The other 2 tracks we played, “Dedicated” and “Drippin” are dope too! We did have a moment mimicking his Florida slang LOL me and Cream kept saying “whoop de whoo” LOL

Pompano dropped some real gems during the interview to pay attention to, and even tho he rocks out like a rock star, he speaks well enough to be taken serious & to be understood. I have a feeling that we will be hearing more from this artist very soon!! Check out the rest of the interview below!

Dj Raven is not only my cohost on The Hit or Miss Sundays show, he is also an up & coming Dj who is making a name for himself in Cleveland!! Just last Monday, he had the chance to showcase his skills for the WNRV 108.1 World Famous Club Style show which was held at the Nerve Djs Studio!! This live event was hosted by Cleveland’s own Casper Cee, Telace, Tasha Beatz, one of my favorite Djs, Dj Ellery, and Shonny Shon!!!
