Hey guys!!! This week was fairly quiet due to the untimely death of rapper, Nipsey Hussle. Artist, Khalid, finally dropped his album which contains nothing but feel good tracks that provides a whole vibe..imagine riding around your city with the top down vibing to his album singing along to his catchy hooks. Boosie, one of my favorite artists, dropped with an album that makes me feel as if he actually took time & patience to work on for he made sure to rap about recent topics, reminiscing about 90’s, love life, cannabis, and that good ole ratchet shit too!
King Combs dropped an EP, that reminds me of his father, Sean Combs, due to a lot of the samples that were used for this project. What I do respect about King Combs project is the fact that he is testing his sound & style. He has one song with Ty Dolla $ign then turn around with a song featuring the City Girls. I think that is so dope for it allows him to see what style works for him musically, and to see what songs his fans love the most too! The major plus is he does not sound like his father rapping…AMEN lol

There is a new artist, Money Mu, from out of Atlanta who dropped his first mix tape, and I want to advise to keep an eye on him. The first song off his mix tape “Eat” is a guaranteed hit! I’m a feature it on my next Dope Artist’s post! Check out the rest of the new releases of the week!!

Hey ya’ll!!! Its that time again to shout out artists who I think are DOPE ARTISTS!!! Usually I make this type of post every other week, but outside from being busy with my regular duties…I had to do some research, and oh when I say that my research found some great people…I did! I am also shouting out some of the artists who were the featured guests on the show I co host “Hit Or Miss Sundays” which I am very happy to do! Even though we are on just episode 3 of season 5, the submissions from artists have truly stepped up! I just figure…why not support them?? Never forget that 216 The Beat is the voice of the unheard!!!!!

Hey ya’ll!!! This week’s list of new releases wasn’t much this week. The release of JuiceWRLD’S debut album, which has critics comparing it some of our greatest albums. While I think that’s a very far-fetched idea…I can agree with them on the fact that it is a good album. Def Jam released a compilation album featuring all there new artist…this isn’t nothing new! GOOD JUST AIN’T ENOUGH

Have you ever felt like no matter how positive you try to be or all the times you have put in being helpful to others or consistently working hard to to make a way out of no way, but no matter how much effort you put in it seems like all your efforts are constantly being blocked? Or feeling insufficient to help others or your children….constantly losing your self confidence due to expectations that were followed by disappointments or the feeling that doing good just ain’t enough??

Artist, Faded Mulah, is back attacking the issue of suicide with his new song “Good Just Ain’t Enough”. Suicide is such an issue in this country that in America, suicide is the 10th leading cause of deaths and in 2017, over 47,000 died by suicide alone, per The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

“Good Just Ain’t Enough” reminds you to check in on your loved ones, even the ones who you think don’t need to be checked on. Sometimes we are fooled in to believing that a daily smile means a person is always ok. We get so caught up in our own worlds that we do not pay attention to the fact that maybe that smile could be the mask a person is using to hide their REAL pain. DO NOT WAIT TILL IT’S TOO LATE!!!

TEEZY FROM THE CLAIR – MAKE IT OUT

My fellow Cleveland native has been going hard since he been back home! I got hip to him from off Trapaholics mixtape: Eat or Get Ate, Fresh Out The Gate back in 2017, and literally I kept it on repeat! Since then Teezy has been on his grind…”Make It Out” is an example of his explanation as to why he is going so HARD for he wants to make it out, but not just him…he wants everybody to do the same! Like the saying goes…what’s the point of making it big when no one else in your circle has been blessed to do the same.

ODE THA HUSTLA – PULL UP (REMIX) FT. 3OHBLACK, CHELLY THE MC, SUPA TRIPPA

I had to do some homework on this artist LOL seriously for it looked as if he was gone for a sec then BOOM he is back & hopefully ready to set this game on fire with some dope music. I like his style and how his flow rides the beat with a piece of island feel to it. Maybe its how he does his voice on the hooks, but it reminds me of a particular reggae artist I listen to. The single “Pull Up” is featuring 3OHBlack, an artist I am familiar with, Chelly The Mc, to whom I featured on one of my NEW MUSIC FRIDAY posts towards the end of 2018, and Supa Trippa, who I will like to hear more music from, all collaborated with Ode Tha Hustla to create a hot single that is also featured on his current project Starting 5 Ep that is available on all streaming platforms.

ADAM III – COTTON PICKERS TURNED GANGSTA

When this artist asked me to check out his music I swear I had no idea as to what I was going to hear, but I am glad that I took that chance, for Adam III was really speaking not only real shit but its TRUE!! The single “Cotton Pickers Turned Gangsta” really makes you think as to how Blacks in America have evolved from being cotton pickers to gangsta’s out here picking in people’s pockets!! The one thing that I do notice about Adam III is that he raps about what’s going on in his neighborhood & making sure to highlight the things we should be paying attention to versus the alternative. Adam currently has another single out titled “South Central Los Angeles” that’s available on all streaming platforms!

I just got hip to up and coming artist, songwriter, and battle rapper named Elijah Lamar, last month. The single I am featuring “Drip(Trip Remix)” is a cover to Ella Mai’s platinum hit “Trip”. Even though Jacquees caused an uproar when he decided to redo the song, I can say that Elijah made it to HIS VERSION….I even enjoyed how when I thought the song was about to end, the beat changed with his delivery! I just got to know this talented producer through some family that I have who live out in the Bay Area of California. Me, being nosy like I do I agreed to check some of his music out for which now I am happy to say that I did for I enjoyed the music he sent to me. The first single titled “Chillin” is from a few years back and the inspiration behind the track came from him believing in the artist, Bizzel, which allowed him to open up his own creativity & feelings on the record. From this single, it inspired the producer to create a whole album for Bizzel titled “Whiten by Bizzel” which is available on all platforms.

This is the other single I grew to like of course I love to shout my ladies out! I truly loved Alma Rosae’s delivery on this song…which makes it so DOPE! The talented artist stated that the song “Freaky Tales” is about living your best life & being able to express your sexuality freely. Alma goes on to state..that their shouldn’t be a double standard, women should be able to be players too & not judged for it! The single is available on Rosae’s EP “Boys” which is available everywhere so make sure to check it out!!

Each week I am going to post artist’s that I believe people should check out! This week I have two artists from Cleveland who have 2 totally different styles, but have music that anyone will love and enjoy. From your conscious music to booty shaking music or even to rhythm & blues, if the content is dope, I want to be one of the first to promote it!!!

Last month I had the chance to meet with this up & coming artist who goes by the name of Malik X. A conscious individual who describes himself as someone who is consciously trying to get some money. He is a young artist who you can tell is grinding his way thru this business & is making his own lane. Malik X is also a co-owner of a nice venue in Cleveland called The Underground. It’s a place that offers spoken word, open mic nights, and performances from many of the talented artists in the city, as well as Malik X. Now…I find it amazing how you can follow someone for YEARS on social media & not really know much about them! Well, this artist who goes by the name of Chris J Allday, is one of those people. I got to listen to his project called “Allday” and I am in complete awe of this project. Chris has a delivery that commands your attention but allows you to truly peep his lyrics while vibing to the beat. The “Allday” project was released a couple of months ago and has songs to sit back & vibe to, turn up to, and even shake ya ass to LOL Just like I mentioned for the artist above, I guarantee this will not be the last time you will hear of Chris J Allday.
